金阳光（GoldenSunlisht）和基斯顿（Kidston）金矿分别于1983和1985年投产。金阳光金矿采用了常规的棒磨一球磨磨矿流程，而基斯顿金矿则采用了半自磨一球磨磨矿流程。因为这两个矿山的矿石硬度和粗磨细度基本相同，因此，可以进行有意义的经济比较。比较表明：当矿石适合于半自磨时，采用半自磨一球磨磨矿流程，经营费节省达到20％，投资节省达到40％。
Golden Sunlightt and Kidston gold mines were put into operation in 1983 and 1985, respectively. Gold Sunshine Gold uses a conventional rod mill grinding process, while the Keith Gold Mine uses a semi-self grinding a ball mill grinding process. Because the two mines have roughly the same hardness and coarseness of the coarse grind, a meaningful economic comparison can be made. The comparison shows that when the ore is suitable for semi-autogenous grinding, the grinding process of semi-autogenous grinding and ball milling is adopted, the operating expense is saved up to 20% and the investment is saved up to 40%.
