January 10th - 12th marked the opening of The 13th (Hangzhou) Tanboocel Union Conference themed on “Green, Innovation, Intelligent and Win-win”. Directed by China National Textile and Apparel Council(CNTAC) and sponsored by China Tanboocel Union, the conference was hosted by Jilin Chemical Fiber Group Co., Ltd. More than 1,600 representatives of famous domestic colleges and universities and news media as well from 18 countries and regions attended the conference, including, Wang Tiankai, former President of CNTAC; Xia Lingmin, Vice President of CNTAC; Cao Tingrui, Director of Textiles Branch of Consumer Goods Department, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology; Yang Jun, Deputy Secretary-General of CNTAC; Liu Jiaqiang, Vice President of China Wool Textile Industry Association; Chen Baojian, chief engineer of National Textile Products Development Center; and Song Dewu, Chairman of Tanboocel Union, Chairman and general manager of Jilin Chemical Fiber Group.
As the patent product of Jilin Chemical Fiber Group facilitating its industrialization development, bamboo fiber acts as a Chinese bamboo fiber brand. In November 2005, the group initiated the formation of Tanboocel Union in Xiaoshan, Zhejiang Province as a new business model. Only 24 domestic textile enterprises and groups joined as members at first; but the union is now attracting over 200 members after 12 years. Having formed a new industrial chain business model covering raw materials, spinning, weaving, dyeing and finishing, ready-made garments, R&D, and testing institutions, the union has reached 2 trillion yuan economic benefits thanks to the joint work among its members and partners.
Tanboocel Union has harvested fruitful achievements which were highly recognized by the industry. In addition to the honorary title of Product Development Promotion Award in 2017, CNTAC awarded outstanding enterprises and individuals, and commended the effort in the Developing and Application of New-Type Fiber Products of Tanboocel Union in 2017 China International Fabric Design Competition.
January 11th saw the convening of the keynote speech of The 13th Tanboocel Union Conference with Yang Jun, Deputy Secretary-General of CNTAC, as its host.
The first speech was delivered by Song Dewu who expressed deep feelings for the 12-year development for the union. He pointed out that the advent of union accelerated the development and application of bamboo fiber which was only seen in socks only and then stretched its hands towards the fields of underwear and towel. In the past 12 years, bamboo fiber has been applied to various fields of clothing and home textile industry. During that time, a million tons of bamboo fibers were produced and more than 1000 textile enterprises were involved. Meanwhile, over 10,000 farmers have increased their income and more than 100 enterprises have been reborn. When it comes to bamboo fiber enterprises in the terminal link, there were more than 3,800 enterprises worldwide. The Tanboocel Union is introducing to the world a union with Chinese style. Over the past 12 years, its products have been popular with consumers in more than 40 countries and regions, and bamboo culture just like panda greatly attracts global people. Besides the first Management Innovation Award awarded by the textile industry, the business mode of the Tanboocel Union was introduced by Dalian University of Technology into China’s manager training textbook as one of teaching cases. He said that the Tanboocel Union will promote itself by adhering to its five principles, committing to the road leading to green, recycling and sustainable development, and never shying away from its social responsibility. On the way of high-quality development, Jilin Chemical Fiber Group sees to it that it will take on its new mission in this new era, make full efforts in the quality, efficiency and dynamic change, and push forward the work of the supply side reform. In the end the group is able to output value of 60,000 tons of rayon, 380,000 tons of acrylic fiber, 100,000 tons of bamboo pulp, 160,000 tons of bamboo fiber, 16,000 tons of carbon fiber and 60,000 tons of cotton pulp, which underpins the advance of the Tanboocel Union. Then Cao Tingrui came to deliver a speech in which he thought highly of creative development of Tanboocel Union and put forward his earnest expectation.
A report Analysis on the running situation and Market Trend of China’s Textile Industry made by Xia Lingmin, Vice President of CNTAC gave a detailed information in the following four aspects: basic operation of China’s textile industry, international and domestic market trend of textile industry, attempt of Tanboocel-industrial chain collaborative innovation. The report also said that the overall situation of the textile industry in 2017 underwent steady progress in profits and steady improvement in quality. Also there was an increasingly optimizing fiber structure and a total of 54.2 million tons fibers are dealt with, ranking the first in the world.
Closely related to the macro-economic environment, China’s textile industry is basically with a reasonable range. According to CNTAC, China’s textile industry saw a stable growth in 2017. Affected by such factors as domestic and foreign market demand, international industrial layout adjustment, China’s textile industry showed a slowdown in growth. From January to November in 2017, the industrial added value of China’s textile industry grew by 4.9%, 0.2 percentage point lower than that of the previous year.
According to the Ministry of Commerce, China’s e-commerce transactions were expected to reach 22 trillion yuan in 2016, including 5.16 trillion yuan in online retail sales, an year-on-year increase of 26.2% (with 4.19 trillion yuan of net retail sales of physical goods). The preliminary estimate by CNTAC, China’s textile industry e-commerce transactions during the year of 2017 was about 5.34 trillion yuan, an increase of around 20% over the previous year.
Internationally, the price for China’s textile export in 2017 continued to fall as the consequence of such effects as exchange rate changes, adjustments of raw materials cost structure, and changes in international market demand. From January to November, China’s textile exporting prices dropped by 5.48% and the volume increased by 7.50% over the previous year. But the overall exports improved over the previous year contributed by the increase in export volume. In the end, Xia Lingmin gave full affirmation to the Tanboocel Union in terms of efforts in intelligent production, sustainable development, in-depth gigging of traditional culture, and combining production and finance. “Tanboocel Union has gradually become a platform for the joint development and application of a variety of fibers among its members. I hope the union sticks to the idea of delivering win-win results.” he said. After that, Yuefusheng, Vice President of Tanboolcel Union and Deputy General Manager of Jilin Chemical Fiber Group, gave the work report of Tanboolcel Union in 2017. In the report, he summarized in a comprehensive way the union’s achievements: the construction of raw material base lay solid foundation for industry; product research and development expanding the application field; industrial chain cooperation facilitating the upgrading of supply-side structure; the increasingly popular brands strengthening the union which are now full of vitality and enjoys international reputation. The report pointed out that Tanboolcel Union had abundant new type of raw materials and relied on complete industrial chains, which makes the union has an edge over others in terms of internationalization. In 2018, the Tanboolcel Union will continue to carry forward its spirit, hold high the banner of Chinese originality, actively adapt to the changeable situation, seize the opportunity for its development, and take the initiative to adjust the running mode so as to introduce to the world Chinese elements, Chinese symbols and Chinese culture.
