In 634 AD, the two powerful regimes of the Tang and the Panchol took the first large-scale intense contact in Songzhou. Both sides around Songzhou, nearly 300,000 troops only launched two small encounters, each other’s victory and defeat, can be described as an anticlimax. However, it is these two small encounters that both sides understand behind each other’s true strength. Thus, the two mighty political chiefs took the opportunity of making peace with their relatives and opened more than two decades of friendly exchanges between the two sides, laying the foundation for the changes in the relations between the two countries as a whole.
