His books deal with such issues as the freedom of marriage for men and women, the footbinding of women, the establishment of girls’ schools, the prohibition of prostitution and the double standards of moral evaluation of men and women in feudal society. He pointed out the irrationality of these issues and provided solutions. His historical circumstances and his life experiences contributed to his thinking on women’s issues. His emancipation of the mind, together with the reformers of the time, played the role of connecting and opening up and promoted the awakening of the woman’s consciousness. Although there are also shortcomings, the active role of his women in emancipating the mind plays a major role.
