In March 2002, Guangdong Province ushered in the 37th anniversary of the water supply to Hong Kong. In the past 37 years, the water supply to Hong Kong has exceeded 13 billion tons. In 1963, Hong Kong suffered a rare drought in history. To end the history of Hong Kong people suffering from water shortages due to lack of freshwater resources, the Chinese government set aside a special fund to start the construction of the Dongshen Water Supply Project in February 1964 and put it into operation in March 1965 . The water supply project to Hong Kong experienced expansion from the previous period of 1974 to 1978, the second phase of expansion from 1981 to 1987 and the third phase of expansion from 1990 to 1994. The scale of water supply from the original
