Objective: To observe the impact of individualized nutrition intervention and management of body mass index on the outcome of maternal and neonatal children with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). METHODS: A total of 386 GDM patients were selected as study subjects, of whom 196 were admitted to hospital before September 2012. Conventional nursing interventions were used as the control group. In September 2012, 190 patients with GDM were treated with individualized nutrition intervention And body mass index management, as the experimental group, observed and compared the two groups of maternal and child outcomes. Results: After intervention, the blood glucose level of both groups improved significantly (t = 38.1541, P <0.0001; t = 8.3769, P <0.0001). The effect of the experimental group was more satisfactory (t = 37.2293, P <0.0001) (P <0.05). The weight gain per week and the results of both maternal and childbirth in the second trimester after the intervention of the experimental group were significantly better than those of the control group (P <0.05). Conclusion: The individual nutrition intervention and body mass index management for pregnant women with GDM can effectively control the increase of blood sugar level and body mass index, and improve the maternal and infant outcomes.
