Eugenol is the main component of Chinese traditional medicine clove oil. It has a variety of complex pharmacological effects, especially in the antipyretic cooling effect. Previous electrophysiological experiments in our laboratory have observed that eugenol can reverse the pyrogen-induced discharge activity of PO/AH (preoptic-hypothalamus) temperature-sensitive neurons, indicating the antipyretic effect of eugenol.
