Hong Kong, with an area of 1000km ~ 2 and a population of nearly 6 million, may be the most vibrant city on the Pacific coast and the fastest-growing areas in the world. However, almost 80% of Hong Kong people live or work in less than one place 100km ~ 2, making it one of the most populated and densely populated cities in the world. In order to meet the economic development, the demand for electricity in Hong Kong is also growing. To meet this requirement, a tunnel of underground utility equipment with a diameter of 4.8m and a length of 5.7km is required in a place where it takes much space to use overhead cables Referred to as public tunnels) to make it a part of Hong Kong Island’s distribution network system. The use of roadheaders and prefabricated concrete methods can radically reduce noise, vibration and dust, and reduce the public caused trouble, but also shorten the construction time and save construction costs. This article will introduce the planning, design and construction of this public tunnel under such conditions.
