The Art Beijing 2011 ? Fine Art Fair was held at the National Agricultural Exhibition Center in Beijing from September 15 to 18, 2011. Bringing together over 40 galleries and art institutions, this year’s Fine Art Beijing offers a strong lineup. It presented an extraordinary exhibition of both classical and modern art from West and East. Compared with previous fairs, the exhibits at the Fine Art Beijing 2011 are richer in form and more diversified in style. Attending the fair, you would be able to travel from the ancient pastto the contemporary art world, enjoying classical Western paintings, modern Chinese paintings,modern and contemporary oil paintings, Japanese paintings, and Russian oil paintings, all of which havehad an enormous impact on contemporary Chinese art.

Magnificence — Classic Chinese Oil Painting Exhibition
This year, Fine Art Beijing is cooperating with Phoenix Art Palace to display classic oil painting works by Chinese renowned artists since the 20th century including masterpieces of the artists form older generation as Yan Wenliang, Chang Yu, Wu Zuoren and Yang Qiuren, etc, selected artworks by the hard core artists as Jin Shangyi, Luo Zhongli, Sun Weimin, Yang Feiyun and Wang Yidong etc. and the newly created artworks of the famous artists as Fan Bo, Zhu Chulin and Dai Pingjun, etc. The exhibition explores the historical development of Chinese oil painting in China, as well as presents the inheritance and innovation of Chinese oil painting and highlights the individual styles of participating artists.
> The World of Printmaking — Guanlan Print Exhibition
Since Guanlan Original Printmaking Base opened in May 2008, it has attracted more than 300 renowned painters from more than 40 countries and areas to visit for idea sharing and creation. Guanlan has become a center of printmaking for all the world. This exhibition presents masterpieces by 15 well-known artists from the U.S., Britain, Japan, Belgium, Poland, Luxembourg, Macedonia and Bulgaria. The exhibition offers insight into the new artwork environment, in which contemporary printmaking is bringing together a range of materials, ideas, styles and skills.
> Boundless — Young Ink Painters Guest Exhibition
Taking “Boundless” as its theme, this exhibition aims to inspire contemporary young artists to rethink the present context of ink painting in cultural reality. It sorts through the academic issues that “contemporary ink painting” is faced with in the ongoing interactions between globalization and localization. The exhibition will display over 50 artworks by 11 contemporary ink painters born in the ‘70s and ‘80s. The artists have chosen to absorb elements of Western paintings, such as its approach to semiotics and the expression of ideas, then to develop their own unique ink painting language through the exploration of artistic boundaries. Their explorations and pursuits of the limitless possibilities of “water”, as well as nature, changes their approach to “ink”. They seek the contemporary spirit of “ink painting” in an era in which art follows no doctrine. companies brought artworls, such as Poly International Auction Co., Ltd., and Beijing Council International Auction Co., Ltd., brought audiences outstanding artworks by modern and contemporary masters like Wu Changshuo, Zhang Daqian, QiBaishi, Hong Yi, XieZhiliu, GaoJianfu and Wu Guanzhong, allowing us to appreciate the essence of Chinese painting. In addition, Fine Art Beijing 2011 will exhibit classical Russian oil paintings by K.M. Maksimov and Mylnikov, which will be presentedby Sanshang Art Gallery, as well as masterpieces by Japanese mastersexhibited by Beijing Noda Contemporary Gallery.
The exhibition size and exhibit categories were also be larger than last year. Traditional fine artworks like Tibetan Thang-ka and ceramics will be included in the fair for the first time. Buddhist sculpture will, however, remain the section’s highlight.
An indispensable part of all Art Beijing fairs is the theme exhibition, which builds on fine arts history and academic analysis for its mission of art education and popularization. This year, Art Beijing is working with many art institutions to showcase master artists from a range of countries, historical periods, styles and schools. In addition, experts will discuss the systematic presentation of classical arts, such as printmaking, sculpture, oil painting and ink painting in thecontext of contemporary art and collection.
Fine Art Beijing 2011 will not only be a visual feast, but an experience of the very essence of traditional art. The exhibition includes follows a carefully planned positioning andconcept to best present the history and culture of classical art, as well as its value and significance today.
> Statues of the Republic of China — In Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Revolution of 1911
This exhibition, under the general title of “Statues of the Republic of China”, has two units respectively entitled “Statue of Sun Yatsen and the Public Sphere of the Republic of China” and “Hall of Fame”. The first unit, by revealing the interrelationship between “Statue of Sun Yat-sen” and “the Public Sphere of the Republic of China”, intends to show the achievements of the sculptures of the Republic of China, as well as reflect on their distinguishing public features. The second unit aims to reveal the “private sphere”, which corresponds to the “public sphere” by constructing a kind of “Hall of Fame”, hence the exhibit title “Statues of the Celebrity”, which is an important part of the Statues of the Republic of China. The exhibition also commemorates the 100th Anniversary of the 1911 Revolution and includes documents, photos, video and objects that reflect the vivid history of the Republican Period. The exhibition brings this period of history to life and challenges audiences to reflect on its significance today.
> Art Beijing 2011?Auction Area
Art Beijing 2011 worked with Poly International Auction Co., Ltd. and Beijing Council International Auction Co., Ltd., to bring audiences excellent artworks from modern and contemporary masters. In the Auction Area, you will find Wu Guanzhong’s oil painting treasures. Also on exhibit is “The Kite String Will Not Be Broken — Wu Guanzhong’s Classical Artworks Exhibition Part II”, which is also organized by Poly International Auction Co., Ltd. Other exhibitions include the“Predestined Relationship with Buddha – An Exhibition of Buddhism-themed Calligraphies and Paintings by Modern Masters”, which is hosted by Beijing Council International Auction Co., Ltd.Here, you will see Buddhist-themed calligraphy and paintings by modern masters,such as Wu Changshuo, Ren Xiong, Zhang Daqian, Qi Baishi, Hong Yi, Xie Zhiliu, Gao Jianfu, Lin Sanzhi and Huang Zhou.
