The authors studied the pharmacological effects of (+)-Nantianzhuning of P. spicata (L.) Bernh. on the isolated aorta, atria, and vas deferens in male SD rats. Experiments have shown that, with intact rat aortic rings, (+)-Nantianzhuning 0.05-0.5 μmol/L can competitively antagonize the blood vessels caused by phenylephrine (PE) and serotonin (5-HT).
