The Ryukyu Islands is a collective term for a series of islands in the Pacific Ocean, between Japan and Taiwan. It was once the place where the Ryukyu Kingdom was once. In China’s Ming and Qing dynasties, the Ryukyu Kingdom was part of the tributary system of trade in East Asia centered on China and was closely linked with China.
