The “Little World” reflects the anxiety and contemplation of the author David Lodge on the decline of scholars’ academic behavior in the post-industrialized society where hedonism is the main essence. Through a large number of language games, the novel reveals that the scholars’ quest for aura, worldly fame and fortune, and temperament has gone beyond the limits of their identities. From the aspects of sliding, discontinuity and ambiguity and paradox of language signifier, this paper explores the language games in “Little World”, profoundly reveals the relationship between language and reality, and further deepens the understanding of postmodern literary works and their countermeasures Realistic thinking and understanding.
