George Meredith, one of the important writers of his time with Dickens, was once active in the literary arena in a competitive manner with best-seller in the 19th century British literary arena. For centuries, critics have not reached a clear consensus on his creative thinking. However, if he conducted an in-depth study of his works, it can be found that his creative theme embodies obvious stage and fluidity. He turned to a realist writer dedicated to the emancipation of women in the early days of his creation and turned to the idealist who perfected the society through evolution and education in the middle and then to the modernist style of his later works. The evolution of Meredith’s writing theme is a notable phenomenon of literature in the Victorian literary world.
