本文是英国皇家医学会儿科协会主席汤姆斯·司塔尔顿教授1986年在当选会上的致辞。汤姆斯·司塔尔顿教授是一位医学心理学家和法学家,曾任英国少年法庭法官和新南威尔士斯儿童福利促进会主席,尤其对青少年犯罪问题的研究造诣颇深。他还是一位国际社会活动家,遍访了五大洲。汤姆斯教授也是中国人民的老朋友,非常关注和支持我国社会主义革命和建设事业,先后九次访问中国,足迹遍布大江南北、长城内外,尤其对中国的医学、法学以及青少年教育等方面提出了很多宝贵意见。
This article is a speech delivered by Professor Thomas Stalton, Chairman of the Pediatric Society of the Royal Society of Medicine, at the election in 1986. Professor Thomas Stalton, a medical psychologist and jurist, was a judge of the British Juvenile Court and chairman of the Board of Child Welfare of New South Wales. He is particularly successful in the study of juvenile delinquency. He is also an international social activist who has visited five continents. Professor Thomas was also an old friend of the Chinese people. He paid close attention to and supported the cause of socialist revolution and construction in China. He visited China nine times in succession and traveled extensively along major, northern and southern sides of the Great Wall, especially in China’s medical sciences, law and adolescent education valuable opinion.
