A wideband speech signal (7) (kHz) compression coding algorithm with good auditory quality at a bit rate of 128kb · s-1 is presented. When the sampling frequency is 16kHx: The input signal is divided into high-subband and low-subband signals by wavelet transform. The low subband signals use an improved Code Excited Linear Prediction (CELP) scheme and the high subband signals are compressed by Adaptive Delta Modulation (ADM).
