节地、节水、节能、节材、环保的“绿色建筑”是当前建筑工程发展的大趋势和大方向。在此方面，台湾已经走在亚洲乃至世界的前列。台湾是亚洲第一个、世界第四个正式采用绿色建筑标准的地区。据统计，台湾现有近3000栋绿色建筑，若以密度计算，已稳居全球第一。
