Objective: To investigate the association of APOC1 gene rs4420638 polymorphism with serum lipids in long-lived population of Hongshui River in Guangxi. Methods: Using i MLDR technique, the polymorphism of APOC1 rs4420638 in longevity population, children of longevity population and control group was genotyped. The correlation between the polymorphism and serum lipids was analyzed. Results: There was no significant difference in the distribution of genotype and allele frequencies between the three groups. The levels of TC and LDL-C in the G allele of the general population and the control group were higher than those of the non-G allele P <0.05). Multiple regression analysis showed that there was a significant correlation between TC and LDL-C and rs4420638 genotypes in the general population and in the control group. Conclusion: APOC1 rs4420638 polymorphism is associated with hyperlipidemia in the general population of Hongshui River basin and may be one of the genetic bases that distinguish APOC1 rs4420638 from those of longevity population.
