Pre-calculation has been used as an efficient power management technique. Pre-calculation prevents some inputs from being carried into registers and drastically reduces the switching in the circuit. This article points out a self-timing approach for combinatorial logic pre-computation that achieves maximum power savings without the need for a clock signal. Describes how to achieve significant power savings without increasing the maximum delay. The experimental results of the mathematical model confirm that the power dissipation can be drastically reduced by increasing the edge of the circuit area without increasing the delay.
