Objective To understand the significance of HCV-associated HCC associated with HBV infection and to explore the independent mechanism or interaction mechanism of HCV and HBV in HCC development. Methods The mRNA expression of c-myc, H-ras, N-ras and nm23H1 in HCC was detected by in situ hybridization. The difference between them was observed in the group with HBV infection (n=44) and HCV alone (n=10). . Results The expression of H-ras and nm23H1 were different in the two groups. The expression of H-ras in C+B group was stronger than that in C group (P=0.0254). The expression of nm23H1 in group C was stronger than that in C+B group (P= 0.0158). Conclusion HBV and HCV can affect the expression of H-ras synergistically. The expression of nm23H1 mRNA in HCV-associated HCC alone is higher than that in HBV-infected group, which may be one of the mechanisms of low metastatic rate of HCV-related HCC.
