Objectives To understand the effect of noise on the cardiovascular system of steel-mills. Methods A total of 424 steel rolling workers with contact noise of a steel enterprise were selected as the contact group. No noise was found in the office, and 325 logistics workers were employed as control group. Blood pressure and electrocardiogram were taken and the data were statistically analyzed. Results The abnormal rates of blood pressure in the exposure group and the control group were 8.73% and 4.00%, respectively, with significant difference (P <0.05). The abnormal rates of electrocardiogram in the exposure group and the control group were 22.88% and 16.31%, respectively P <0.05). Blood pressure of noise-exposed workers increased with the increase of accumulated noise exposure. The abnormal rate of ECG decreased with the increase of seniority at the beginning, and then increased again. Conclusions suggest that noise has some damage to the cardiovascular system of workers in steel mills, and should strengthen the health care of workers.
