Objective To investigate the mental health status of soldiers in combat readiness and stress. Methods Twenty-two soldiers under combat readiness stress were assessed using the Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90). Results The scores of SCL-90, the number of positive items and the total scores of the soldiers were significantly higher than those of the national adult male norm. In addition to the paranoid factors, the SCL-90 score, the number of positive items and the total score Were significantly higher than the Chinese men’s norm; the total score of SCL-90 soldiers was mainly concentrated in the low segment, showing a significant positive skewness. Conclusion The combat readiness stress causes the soldiers to increase their psychological reactivity and their mental health is worse than that of the average person. Psychological problems are more likely to occur, but serious symptoms are still rare.
