湛若水(1466—1560年),字元明,号甘泉,广东增城新塘人,明代理学家,曾任明南京礼、兵、吏三部尚书。其墓葬位于增城县永和镇陂头村天蚕山南坡,是广州地区规模较大,保存较好的明代墓葬。该墓墓穴于1989年6月遭盗掘破坏。现将墓葬形制和被挖出的随葬器物略作介绍。一墓葬形制墓葬修建在山坡上,分为地下墓穴和地面建筑两部分。后者不同于一般的封土堆坟,而是用灰沙渗和土夯筑的规模宏大的台阶式建筑。在坟前有神道,约500~600米处仍有倒地的石人,石马和华表等,坟室后10米处有一隅护墙,如围院落,茔墓北高南低,南北长24.5米,东西宽15米.沿山坡分四级顺势而上,左右后三面筑有高大灰沙挡土墙,前方后圆,其形状如同一张座落
