Objective To analyze the spatial distribution of foodborne disease surveillance cases in Yinzhou District of Ningbo City and evaluate the representativeness of existing foodborne disease sentinel hospital surveillance. Methods The surveillance data of foodborne diseases in sentinel hospitals from May 1, 2014 to September 30, 2015 were collected to describe the spatial distribution characteristics of cases. Results A total of 667 food-borne diseases were reported, of which 61.62% were located in 3 streets around the sentinel hospital; 61.92% of cases were located in the <5 km area of the sentinel hospital. Conclusion The existing sentinel hospitals have a small coverage and insufficient monitoring data. It is suggested that additional surveillance post hospitals be proposed or routine monitoring should be conducted in all medical institutions.
