A large number of active sputum smear-positive patients with tuberculosis is the key to control the epidemic of tuberculosis. We conducted a comparative analysis on the registration status of smear-positive patients with tuberculosis six years before and after the implementation of the World Bank Loan TB Control Project in our county. The results are reported as follows. We collected annual reports of “Yearly Registration of Tuberculosis Patients during 1988-1999” and registered 1523 smear positive patients in 12 years.
