徐特立,中国无产阶级革命家、教育家,湖南善化人。早年曾赴日本、苏联考察教育,后回国内创办多所学校,长期从事教育事业。1927年大革命失败时加入中国共产党,参加南昌起义。1930年曾任中华苏维埃共和国中央执行委员兼教育部副部长。长征到达陕北后,曾任中华苏维埃中央政府西北办事处教育部长、陕甘宁边区政府教育厅厅长等职,建国后历任中央人民政府委员、全国人大常委会委员、中共第七届、第八届中央委员。一生从事教育革命,德高望重,高风亮节,毛泽东尊他为自己一生的老师。
