The American psychologist Thorndiger argues that student learning is an ongoing process of “trial and error,” in which unrelated wrong reactions gradually diminish and correct responses eventually come into being. It is precisely because of the misunderstanding that has been accumulated previously, the student’s learning of the new knowledge becomes more comprehensive and profound. Studying the representative errors in student learning in depth can point out the direction for our teaching and make up for the deficiencies of students’ understanding. In high school mathematics teaching, I found that when solving problems related to trigonometric functions, students often make various mistakes due to various reasons. I analyzed these resources intensively and provided an effective basis for future teaching.
