Pigment epithelium-derived factor (PEDF) is a soluble glycoprotein in normal tissues. It belongs to the serine protease superfamily member and has a highly conserved sequence and molecular structure. Rich in nutrition, but also inhibit angiogenesis. In recent years, PEDF has drawn more and more attention in anti-angiogenesis in solid tumors. A number of studies have shown that PEDF can inhibit tumor angiogenesis, promote tumor cell differentiation, apoptosis and inhibit tumor cell invasion and metastasis. This review summarizes the relationship between PEDF structure and function and cervical cancer and provides clues for finding novel targets for gene therapy of cervical cancer.
