话剧剧本的人物对话和舞台提示犹如一个硬币的两面,是一个有机的整体。作为中国话剧艺术成熟标志的《雷雨》在舞台提示方面取得了很大成就。然而研究者对此关注甚少。《雷雨》的背景说明在以虚写意、虚实相生的同时,通过其蕴藏的强大的艺术张力有力地推动了前台戏剧的发展;人物说明则以其整体上的含蓄深远与细节上的真实生动相结合,为戏剧人物复杂性格作了准确定位,同时也给演员、读者提供了无限的再创造空间。《雷雨》的第二文本与第一文本达到了虚实相得相生的艺术效果。
