Objective To investigate the relationship between the expression of MTDH gene and the clinicopathologic features of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and its significance. Methods The expressions of MTDH and VEGF in cancer tissues and adjacent normal tissues of 328 NSCLC patients were detected by immunohistochemical EnVision two-step method. The relationship between the expression of MTDH and VEGF in clinicopathological features of NSCLC and its clinical value were analyzed. Synergy. Results The MTDH expression in 328 cases of NSCLC was significantly higher than that in adjacent normal lung tissues. The over expression and ectopic expression of MTDH were positively correlated with the expression of VEGF, histological grade, TNM stage and lymph node metastasis in NSCLC (P <0.05) ). Conclusion The over-expression or ectopic expression of MTDH in NSCLC suggests that the prognosis of patients with NSCLC is poor, and as an important regulatory factor of angiogenesis, VEGF is synergistically involved in the growth, metastasis and spread of NSCLC. Combined detection will be used as an indicator of metastatic potential and prognosis of NSCLC.
