Elizabeth Joly is a bright pearl on the contemporary Australian literary scene with a wide range of international influences. “Well” is an important novel by which she breaks the tradition of personal creation and sets another style of writing. From the perspective of feminism, this article analyzes the image of Hurst, the marginal woman in the novel, and argues that the author achieves the purpose of subverting the center, denying authority and criticizing rationality by means of shaping Hearst, and reconstructs the symbiotic symbiosis of human relations The universal meaning of postmodern culture.
