郑板桥画竹独特．画石亦如此。自然界再无情的石头在他笔下也活了．如《柱石图》(见附图1、图2)中的石头．这也是前人画中常用题材．但很少把它作为主体形象来表现的。而郑板桥在画幅中央别具一格地画了一块孤立的峰石．却有直冲云霄的气概．四周皆空没有背景。画上四句七言诗:“谁与荒斋伴寂寥．一枝柱石上云霄．挺然直是陶元亮,五斗何能折我腰。”诗点破了画题．一下子将石头与人品结合到一块儿．可谓“画不足而题足之．画无声而诗声 Zheng Banqiao painted bamboo unique.
