This paper argues that the maturity of Chinese poetics can not be separated from the mastery of poetic ethnics by the academia, and it is also inseparable from the poetry world’s sentiment about the cultural character of Chinese characters. The so-called “word thinking theory”, that is, a poetic language concept based on the aesthetic culture of Chinese characters, is actually in line with the cultural experience of stone tiger painting and calligraphy. Therefore, the meaning of “word thinking” lies not only in how to express the artistic nature of Chinese poets but also in how to recognize the cultural intentions of the Chinese nation.
