A recent exhibition, co-hosted by the China Artists Association and the National Museum of China, shares with visitors a glimpse of the latest achievements in the contemporary arts and crafts, part of China’s profound cultural and historical narrative.
Unveiled on August 24, Creations of the Wise: The Second National Exhibition of Arts and Crafts and the Second NMC Invitational Exhibition of Arts and Crafts display nearly 270 works covering lacquer, jewelry, embroidery, carving and weaving.
The artistic treasures convey the highest level of contemporary arts and crafts via the integration of new techniques, materials and approaches. They reflect the environmental characteristics of different regions plus their customs, and promote the creative transformation and innovative development of the best traditional Chinese culture has to offer. Thanks to the support from master craftsmen, the value of artisanal skills in society is taking on a whole new, revitalized meaning. BR
