Auguste Wilson’s works are full of supernatural phenomena such as ghosts, ancestral manifestations, mysterious religious rituals and witchcraft. These mysterious episodes scattered in the ten series of plays, but not isolated, but constitute a complete system of myths: the Atlantic City at its base for the bone, Estella as its backbone, and other minor mysterious plot of its branches and leaves. Under the shadow of mystery, Wilson’s most profound emotion and the core creative thought are: Calling on African Americans to refuse to assimilate, acknowledge and inherit the heritage created by their ancestors, and do their utmost to be the “masters” of the United States.
