特三矮2号系广东农科院水稻所育成。1990年参加南方稻区粮油作物科技开发集团区域试验,据5省8个试点统计,平均亩产588.9kg,比对照汕优63增产5.23％,名列第一。1991年湖北省农科院科技开发中心引进试种,在严重渍水情况下,亩产516kg,较对照汕优63增产63％:居9个品种的首位。大田栽种25亩,平均亩产550kg,较一般中稻增产10％以上。在襄阳县伙牌镇种植1亩,亩产达700kg。它表现高产、抗病、耐肥、抗倒、生育期适中,是一个很有希望的中稻新品种。
