Background Information In 2005, China’s machinery industry showed a more obvious comparative advantage. International industrial transfer has provided a rare opportunity for the development of China’s machinery industry. Except construction machinery and automobiles, the current demand for automobiles is still at a low growth rate. Other orders for various types of products can meet production needs. Large-scale products such as major equipment required by the state key projects are still in short supply. In 2005, the total industrial output value and sales revenue of China’s machinery industry maintained a rapid growth. The sales and production rate maintained a relatively high level. The total profit dropped slightly as compared with the same period of last year, and the import and export deficit decreased significantly. On this basis, it is estimated that in 2006 the state will increase the proportion and market share of major equipment manufacturing industry domestically through policies such as finance, taxation and investment, and China’s machinery industry will still be able to maintain a growth of about 15%. From the development trend analysis, 2006 is not only the year of continuous development of China’s machinery manufacturing, but also a crucial moment for the progress of China’s machinery manufacturing to a new level. The year 2006 marks the first year of China’s “Eleventh Five-year Plan”. The new plan clearly states that China should shift from “Made in China” to “Innovation in China.” As a basic part of China’s manufacturing industry, machinery manufacturing will have the ability and degree of change to determine the degree of “innovation” made in China.
