张悦然在小说中喜欢把爱情描写到极致,惯于书写决绝式的自我牺牲,甚至是自虐式、自我毁灭的爱情模式。《誓鸟》沿袭了张悦然情爱叙事的模式,所不同的是爱发生了转移、变异,对爱的痴迷与疯狂转变到对爱的附属物或者爱的凭借上。情爱的转移导致情与爱的悖谬,导致情感的放逐与背离。无性之爱、乱伦之爱、同性之爱都缺乏滋生爱情的土壤,缺乏合理性存在,决定了爱的徒劳与虚无,注定了悲剧性命运。
