Using a linear tropical two-layer model with different densities and temperatures, the response of the tropical western Pacific to the latitudinal wind stress is analyzed. Analyze the thermocline thickness, ocean current and SST in the tropical western Pacific. The results show that the variation of subsurface temperature is obviously larger than the variation of surface temperature. Meanwhile, the propagation of the disturbance propagating on the subsurface of the ocean can cause the abnormal distribution of SST. The theoretical results support the fact that observations have shown that variations in the physical quantities of the tropical western Pacific play an important role in El Niño / LaNina events.
