《义务教育语文课程标准》在总目标中明确指出“学会汉语拼音。能说普通话。认识3500个左右常用汉字。能正确工整地书写汉字,并有一定的速度。”在第一阶段中也分别指出“掌握汉字的基本笔画和常用的偏旁部首,能按笔顺规则用硬笔写字,注意间架结构。初步感受汉字的形体美。”在第二阶段中指出“累计认识常用汉字2500个左右,其中1800个(比原减少200个)左右会写。”在第三阶段中指出“较强的独立识字能力。累计认识常用汉字3000个左右,其中2500个左右会写。”由此可见,写字教学在小学阶段是非常重要的,而中低年级的写字教学尤为重要。
