在“2009第五届世界华文传媒论坛”上,“海外华文媒体与上海世博”是其重要主题。在金融危机的背景下和新中国建国六十年的重要时刻聚焦世博,正是因为世博会是新中国历时60年逐步走向强盛的具体印证,其对社会、经济、文化与科技领域成就的多方位展示,为处于危机中期待“浴火重生”的华文媒体,搭建了展示新闻理念、技术实力和报道方式的舞台,提供了一方打造“话语权”的广阔天地。对于上海世博会所孕育的机遇和华文媒体应该承担的使命,众媒体人已有深刻认识,并将在本次论坛上各抒己见,以新闻的眼光“凝视上海、聚焦世博”。整个论坛会场内外充满了浓浓“世博味”。
