硬质合金、高速钢或其它难加工材料的成型磨削,采用普通砂轮是不经济的。特别在被磨的工件截形必须相同,而且公差要求严格的大批生产条件下更是如此。普通砂轮虽易快速成型,但磨损快,必须经常修整和检查,以控制工件质量,因此使总加工费用增加。金刚石或立方氮化硼(CBN)成型砂轮常能得到较好的经济效果。这种砂轮的优点是成型面十分耐磨,其缺点是价格高,修整工时很长,并且需要重修整和锐化砂轮等辅助设
