Musk is a dry product secreted by the submandibular glands of the male raccoon (Moschuss moschiferus L.) and has been used medicinally since ancient times. The main clinical use is for coma, swollen poison, bruises, sweating, wind dispelling, and swelling and pain relief; however, it is mostly used in combination with other drugs. At present, many Chinese and proprietary medicines contain musk. Because of the long-term use of hunting scent to get incense, the source of musk is increasingly lacking. Understanding the chemical composition and pharmacological activity of Rutschium not only lays a theoretical foundation for the search for substitutes, but also has certain theoretical and practical significance for elucidating the principle of application of Moschus in traditional medicine and opening up new possibilities for treatment. . This article reports on the anti-inflammatory effects of musk on the ear inflammation caused by croton oil.
