To go to Canada to visit relatives last year, fortunate enough to look back at Bethune’s former residence. Bethune was born in Grevenhurst, Ontario. The town is north of Toronto. The former residence of Bethune, at the intersection of John Street and Hurston Street in town, is an ancient two-storey building. Garden flowers and trees, green grass. A portrait of Dr. Bethune at the door, his right cheek, seems to be thinking about what, that deep eyes, lead to reverie. This small building was originally a home to the Presbyterian Church of Gravenhurst. Bethune’s father, Malcolm Bethune, lived here as a pastor of North Church from 1889 to 1893, and North Church is just two blocks from the house. On March 3, 1890, Henry Norman Bethune was born in this house. In 1973, the Canadian government purchased the house as the “Memorial to Bethune” and officially opened to the public in 1976
