Urban growth and development have been linked to specific nodes in urban systems. However, this connection is not of much significance in the context of the merging of functional districts in many large cities into rolling urban areas. When a country has more than 85% of the urban population, the process of urbanization is no longer as we have understood before, and the traditional analytical tools can not meet the demand. This article takes Denmark as the research object and discusses the limitations of the traditional urban analysis method based on the single city and urban-rural dual system. The paper proposes to adopt an alternative concept related to the localization process in metropolitan areas to further demonstrate how Denmark's urban growth model over the past 25 years can be explained by increased liquidity and labor market expansion.
