OBJECTIVE: To compare the differences of mandibular joint heights in patients with skeletal Class III malocclusions with different vertical facial features. Methods: The incisor mandibular plane angle (IMPA) and symphysis height (LH) were measured on the cephalometric slices of 115 patients who had not undergone orthodontic treatment. The changes of different vertical bones The difference of mandibular alveolar compensation and mandibular joint height in facial bone type Ⅲ patients. RESULTS: There was a significant difference in the combined mandibular height and inferior median incisor-mandibular plane angle in patients with Angle Class III patients with different vertical facial features. In skeletal Class III malocclusion, the joint height (LH) was positively correlated with the mandibular plane angle, and the IMPA was negatively correlated with the mandibular plane angle. CONCLUSION: The long type tendency of patients with skeletal Class III malocclusion leads to a longer mandibular joint. The compensatory tongue inclination of the lower anterior teeth aggravates with the long type.
