从氡气的来源及特性出发,围绕氡气自身的运移机理和氡气探测的工程应用两大方面的国内外研究现状进行了概述,并对覆岩采动裂隙的氡气地表探测研究成果进行了具体陈述.在此基础上,进一步阐述了开展覆岩采动裂隙及其含水性超前预报应用基础研究的内涵、需解决的关键科学问题及特色之处.最后,指出氡气探测可以从探究高精度的放射性异常测量方法、减少煤岩层中外界因素对氡气浓度的影响、研究采动效应对地下浅埋煤岩层中氡气运移的作用、建立判别隔水层失稳的氡气探测临界指标、开展更广泛的现场氡气探测工业性试验、实施多源参数信息融合辅助氡气探测和拓展氡气探测在采矿工程中的应用范围等7个方面进行新研究.
