In the last two decades, economic analysis has turned into mathematical analysis. This is especially true in the United States, where doctoral candidates have now replaced at least some of the traditional compulsory courses in foreign languages with various math classes. Economic problems, including the optimal decisions made by the government and enterprises or the steady economic growth, have similarities with the physical and engineering problems that have long been successfully treated by mathematics. However, the rapid development of economics has gone beyond the stage of imitating the way of using mathematics in physics. The author suggests that in the upcoming era, economics may have given rise to its own branch of mathematics or inspired the great new discoveries in mathematics.
