Professor Zhang Wengang and associate professor Cheng Tiesheng of the Air Force Academy of Engineering achieved the international advanced level in their achievements in the research on the seismic performance of steel fiber reinforced concrete frame joints. This achievement was recently approved by technology in Beijing. The framework nodes of modern large-scale buildings (ie beam and column junctions) are the key parts of seismic resistance. The Tangshan earthquake shows that the collapse of large buildings is caused by poor seismic performance of the joints.
