肥胖症可见于不同年龄的人,尤其是人到中年以后,由于体力活动减少,工作和家庭生活趋向稳定,更容易发胖。90%以上肥胖的人与饮食过量、体力劳动不足有关,属于单纯性肥胖。正常人的体重可用下式石计:身高(厘米)-105=标准体重(公斤)。如身高170厘米的人,标准体重是170-105=65公斤。过去认为,超过标准体重20%以上者称为肥胖。近年来,国内外多数学者认为,超过标准体重10%的人便可称为肥胖症。肥胖容易引起高血压、糖尿病、动脉硬化、冠心病、高脂血症、胆囊炎、胆石症等病,肥胖的人常会出现心慌气短,容易疲劳,出汗多,下肢轻度浮肿,妇女月经不调或闭经等症状。
