爆破技术愈来愈加广泛地被应用于人类征服自然的各种斗争中,使用爆破方法,可以在一瞬间内令高山低头、要河水平让路、使地壳翻身、把埋藏在地球内的矿藏采掘出来。 但是迄今炸药爆炸所生的能量,有效地利用于预定目的的部分却非常少,大部分爆炸能炸被浪费掉,甚至造成其他损失,使破碎的岩石块得到很大的动能而四面飞扬,崩倒棚子或井圈,损坏附近的建筑物,结构物、财产与生命的安全,引起有爆炸性的瓦斯与矿尘爆炸,当大量爆破时在地层中引起强烈的地震波,对附近建筑物及地基皆有损坏;所以提高爆破能量的有效利用率是当前爆破科学技术研究与实际工作中的主要问题之一。
